My acer aspire laptop crashed a couple of weeks back but now I've lost loads of important pictures, documents so on.
What is the easiest way to extract the data? How can I extract data off a dead laptop?
As long as it wasn't hard disk failure and you didn't restore it to facrory default go to PC world or similar and buy a 2.5 inch sata/ide hard disk to usb enclosure, costs about 拢15-拢20. Make sure to get one that does sata and ide unless you know which one your hdd is. You basically just have to then remove the hard disk from the laptop, there will be a panel on the bottom to remove. Undo all the screws. The hdd will be in a small caddy, this will need to be unscrewed from the drive and removed. Put the drive in the enclosure and connect to another pc, you will then be able to browse the disk. Your data will likely be under c:\documents and settings\username in xp or c:\users\username in vista and win 7. Good luck! How can I extract data off a dead laptop?
You could contact a computer tech store to run a program to retrieve the data. This is never 100 percent effective unless your hard drive is in good shape, it likely is and they will remove the hard drive, connect it to another computer and retrieve you information. It will cost though. How can I extract data off a dead laptop?
use a live cd version of linux, such as ubuntu, burn the free .iso to a cd, then turn the pc on choose to try without installing, you will be able to access the data, to copy it to another hard disc or flash drive via usb
