How do I transfer all my laptop data to my desktop?

I like to give my Dell Latitude laptop to my nephew.

What is the best way to transfer all the data from the laptop into my desktop?

I'm planning to format the hard drive and re-install Windows XP from my installation disk.

I have both Norton Ghost and Acronis True Image if that will help in the transfer.

Thanks. How do I transfer all my laptop data to my desktop?
I would buy an external drive that is the same size as the one in the desktop. Move all your files and folders into it. Then copy, not move, them to the desktop. Keep the external as a back up. Just remember to back up regularly from then on. Hope this helps. Good Luck.
Use a USB maybe... :)How do I transfer all my laptop data to my desktop?
Easiest way would be to have both machines on the network and copy all your files to your desktop using a file share.
LOL i just got rid of my latitude :) i'de say use a USB flash drive is your best bet :3 sence my old laptop couldn't burn CDs :P you can get a smaller flashdrive and just keep going back and forth if your worried about price lolHow do I transfer all my laptop data to my desktop?
you need an external usb hard drive to copy all the important files that you will need. or maybe try to undock your laptops hdd and place it on your desktop(dock as E: D: or F: Drive on desktop)

using norton ghost is quite a problem because their are times that it fails(experienced it already!).
