How safe is your data on a cell phone even after a hard reset?

Is it technically possible to recover deleted sms messages even after a hard reset on a cell phone?

As far as computers are concerned, yes it is possible to recover data even after a format with recovery software but I am not sure about the mobile phones and how they store data and what possibilities there are...



The reason I am asking this is not recover deleted messages so please do not give any software titles. I am just curious because people are sell or donate their phones but are their private messages, contacts, etc. safe even after a hard reset?

No not really. If you havent backed up your data there isnt really a way to retrieve it. Especially the phones that are being donated which are old flips phones and prepaid cell phones which dnt have many backup features anyways :))
