I don't know if this will work for you but I used SherlockDataRecovery.com and they do not charge anything now unless your data is recovered. They used to charge a diagnostic fee but not any more

there are a few things to respect for a data recorvery. First of all, the disk must spinn. A disk with a broken motor that can't spin anymore is to put in the trash.
Then, if it spins, it needs to show up in your hardware manager in the bios of the motherboard and show up in the diskmanager of your oS.
When those conditions are ok, you need a second disk with anough space to copy the files to.
After that you get a software like Undelete +

Data recovery is NOT cheep! you will be looking at about .35-.40 a meg .
