What genetic explanation would apply to these data?

Assume that a short haired guinea pig crossed with an long haired guinea pig produced five short haired offspring. When the long haired was crossed with a second short haired one, four short haired and three long haired offspring were produced. What genetic explanation would apply to these data?

A. long hair = recessive; short hair = recessive

B. long hair = dominant; short hair = incompletely dominant

C. long hair and short hair = codominant

D. long hair = recessive; short hair = dominant

E. none of the above

Why is the answer D? Hope someone can explain this to me, please! Thanks! What genetic explanation would apply to these data?
The answer is D cause 3:1 ratio there was more short hair then long hair.
