What effects does audio data compression have on consumers of recorded music?

My question is basically up there, but if you're looking with no knowledge on audio data compression, basically it's just the compression of information in a audio file to make the file smaller. It also reduces the quality. Thank you!What effects does audio data compression have on consumers of recorded music?
Consumers have choices, they can listen to CDs and compressed or uncompressed audio, lossy or lossless.



To tell the truth a high-quality mp4 sounds almost the same as the original on a portable device. For high-end storage at home, you can always use lossless audio coding.What effects does audio data compression have on consumers of recorded music?
I think it's just a bad idea in general. Little, if any dynamics, and a limited frequency response are almost anti-musical.
